PAMC First year students will be introduced to illustration, graphic design, and layout using industry leading digital software.

Evaluation for this course is as follows:

  • Formative Assessments – 50% of grade

    • This includes classwork, lessons in the book, warm ups, work habits, sketches, etc.

  • Summative Assessments – 50% of grade

    • This includes projects, unit tests, quizzes, formal writing, evaluations, etc.

 

Course Outline:

The curriculum is currently divided into 5 units with emphasis given to Photoshop, Illustrator and In-Design.

What is Adobe Photoshop?

Adobe Photoshop is a graphics and image editing software used to edit photos as well as create or enhance illustrations, photographs, 3-D art, paintings, drawings, and other digital media.

Adobe Photoshop is compatible with MacOS and Microsoft Windows.

Unit 1: Adobe Photoshop.  Projects focus on photo manipulation, restoration, digital

painting as well as skills and tools designed to introduce students to the program's vast capabilities.

What is Adobe Illustrator?

Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor software developed for the creation of logos, icons, illustrations, drawings, typography and more. 

Adobe Illustrator is compatible with MacOS and Microsoft Windows.

Unit 2: Adobe Illustrator Projects focus on illustration, graphic design, advertising design, typography and skills designed to introduce students to the program's use and

vast capabilities.

What is Adobe In-Design?

Adobe In-Design is the industry-leading layout and page design software for print and digital media.

Adobe In-Design is compatible with MacOS and Microsoft Windows.

Unit 3: Adobe In-Design: Projects focus on single and multi-page layout for graphic design use for items such as brochures, magazines, and other printed media.

What is Adobe Dreamweaver?

Adobe Dreamweaver is a drag and drop website design and building program which allows the user to move elements on the designer dashboard. Dreamweaver can also be used with a traditional code editor — coding only with text, and allows for instant web uploading to a server.

Adobe Dreamweaver is compatible with MacOS and Microsoft Windows.

Unit 4: Adobe Dreamweaver: Skills and projects focus on the fundamentals of web design beginning with website planning and leading to the design, build, and maintenance of a website.  Knowledge of SEO (search engine optimization) is integral to the design of a successful website. 

What is Adobe Portfolio?

Adobe Portfolio is an online website program for showcasing creative work. It is designed to fit any creative field including art, illustration, animation, photography, graphic design, video, web design, and more.

Adobe Illustrator is compatible with MacOS and Microsoft Windows.

Unit 5: Adobe Portfolio: Lessons will provide students the opportunity to showcase their creative work using an online portfolio platform.
